Viasat 1 holds second Media Bar

The second installment of the Viasat 1 Media Bar organized by the channel for media personnel has been held at the Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre in Accra. The event is meant to provide a networking platform for stake holders in the Ghanaian media industry. The media bar coincided with the 3year anniversary celebration of the channel. Viasat 1 launched in December 2008 and has steadily gained viewership. Recent research places the channel at second most watched in the country, which is unprecedented in such a short time.

About 100 corporate executives, pressmen and entertainment celebrities attended the bar. CEO Viasat Broadcasting G Ltd, Charlotte Gustavsson, said that the bar is a successful adaptation from Europe which she believes will help boost synergies in the industry. “In Europe such events are a huge part of media calendar events and have tremendous benefits both to individuals and companies.” “Our aim is to bring the media industry closer together and we do so by arranging quarterly media bar events, and seeing the patronage today we are convinced this is a great idea!”, she added.

The first bar was held in September and was largely patronized leading to the huge success of the second edition. Guests at the bar were hugely impressed with the program and the concept behind its organization. Host of popular game show WHO WANTS TO BE RICH, Kafui Dey said, “The bar is a really creative and ingenious platform for networking among media personnel.”

The next Viasat 1 Media Bar is set to take place in March 2012.
