Celebrated spoken word artist, Poetra Asantewa, read one of her pieces - Saint Ho - last week at the University of Columbia, New York.

As a writer, poet and musician, for the past couple years Poetra Asantewa has dedicated her art to commenting on important subjects relevant to Ghanaian society.

As a sign of recognition for her work, the US Embassy in Ghana announced Poetra as the 2016 OneBeat Fellow; an initiative setup by the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with new based music organisation Bang.

Last October Poetra released her debut EP titled "Motherfuckitude". Artist by night, Poetra Asantewa is also an entrepreneur by day, she's the founder of Alikota clothings and Yobbings. Like a true superwoman, Poetra also works the NGO Love Rocks, who's mission it is to help students to learn to think outside the box.
