The Public Relation Officer of Vienna City, an entertainment centre in Accra, Diana Dartey, has debunked a widely-held perception by the public that the centre is a joint for prostitutes.
The PRO, who was obviously disturbed by this negative perception about her company, explained that it was an unfortunate perception, attributing it to the fact that the entertainment hub was situated at Kwame Nkrumah Circle- a place noted as a haven for prostitution.
Miss Dartey made the statement in an exclusive interview after the launch of the maiden edition of ‘Face of Vienna’ over the weekend.
The pageant is being organized and sponsored by Consul Ghana, the mother company of the entertainment centre.
“I want to use this platform to clear the air. Vienna City is not a prostitute joint. You’ve been here; you’ve seen the place.
The mere fact that it’s sited at Circle does not make it a prostitute joint… it is the location that has to do with it,” she said.
She explained that aside the location of the centre, the lounge, bar, restaurant, casino and night club are all situated within the same premises and so anything could be expected.
She further indicated that Vienna City, as part of its social responsibility and in its quest for a face to represent the company nationwide, decided to come out with the pageant to help rebrand the company’s image as well as give international exposure to the one who would become the Face of Vienna.
The Managing Director of Consul Ghana, Ben Okine, in a speech said the pageant was a way of giving back to society, harnessing on the capability of the organizer to carry out this programme because of its experience, locally and internationally, in the entertainment industry.
The ten ladies selected for the pageant cat-walked for guests the launch and took the opportunity to interact with them. The pageant is slated for Saturday November, 19.
