Vodafone Ghana Telecom donates towards Akwantukese festival

Koforidua, Nov. 21, GNA - The Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana Telecom, Mr David Venn, on Friday presented a cheque of GH¢1,200 to the New Juaben Traditional Area to support the Akwantukese Festival of the chiefs and people of the area. He also presented two internet mobile phone handset, an air time valued at GH¢200, Vodafone packs and three Ghana Telecom Polo shirts. The durbar of chiefs and people of New Juaben to climax the one month long Akwantukese festival celebrations comes off on Saturday, November 22, at the Koforidua Jackson Park.

Receiving the items, Daasebre Oti Boateng, the Omahene of the area thanked Vodafone Ghana Telecom for their gesture and invited Mr Venn to take part in the festival and be familiar with the customs and traditions of the people of New Juaben.

Earlier, Mr Venn presented two broadband school connectivity valued at GH¢2,300 to the All Nations University College in Koforidua with one year subscription.

Again the company presented two "OGOs" internet mobile phone hand set, one GT shirt, one Vodafone shirt and a cheque of GH¢1,000 to the best electronic and communication engineering student of the University. Briefing the media, Mr Venn said it was the intention of Vodafone to develop a world class telephone system in the country. He said was embarking on nationwide tour to meet staffs of the company and assess the telephone system adding that Eastern Region happened to be the first region to visit.

He said since Vodafone took over Ghana Telecom about two and half months ago, six towers had been erected in the Eastern Region to improve upon telephone reception in the area.
