Vodafone Icons Remix Edition shapes up nicely

With the announcement that five lucky contestants of the Vodafone Icons music reality show will get to embark on a musical tour of South Africa, contestants have upped their game so as to qualify for the finals.

It was a gospel affair on Saturday with contestants getting support backstage from family members even before they mounted the stage to perform.

Chris broke the ice whiles performing Sonnie Badu’s (wonder God) which was well received by fans and judges.

Reggie pit in some good work but judge Miss Naa felt she could have done better whiles Alice thrilled the fans with her ‘Alabaster box’ performance originally done by Cece Winans.

‘Igwe’ was a big hit in Ghana, little wonder Dolly nailed it when she performed the song. TT also thrilled fans with a wonderful rendition of ‘From a Distance’ compelling the judges to fall in love with her silky voice.

Ratti, adjudged the best performer of the night swept fans off their feet with his Twi rendition of ‘You Too Dey Bless Me’ by Frank Edwards interspersing it nicely with some tight rap hooks.

Meanwhile icons judge, Manifest is back from his sojourn and was really surprised with the massive improvement in the singing and performing abilities of the contestants applauding the eager contestants and fellow judges for a good job done.

This year, the Vodafone Icons Remix edition winner will walk away a brand new Nissan Qashqai, a recording deal and Vodafone branded souvenirs; the first and second runners-up will also receive lucrative recording deals, cash and souvenirs – all worth Ghc265,000.00.

You can catch the Vodafone Icons Remix train at 8pm on 4Syte TV and Viasat 1 at 9pm on Saturdays, and on TV3 and GHOne on Sundays at 5pm and 7pm respectively.
