Phenomenal new beauty pageant, Miss Beach GH 2010 kicked off its nationwide screening and auditioning session in the Volta Region over the weekend. The venue was the plush Villa Cisneros Spa just some few meters drive after the Volta River Bridge at Sogakope in the Volta Region.
It was the perfect set for what turned out to be perhaps the biggest assemble of beauty and intelligence in the Volta Region. Before noon, over 300 hopefuls in different shapes and sizes had besieged the venue in anticipation of the session with each carrying their own hope of becoming one of the lucky three to represent the Volta Region. The people tasked with the important task of making sifting through the lot included Nigerian model/actor Onoriode Young and Ecuadorean Beach expert Patricia Vanderbilt as well as Caleb, a marketing manager of a local radio station.
Amidst an intriguing mix of anxiety and excitement, the contestants went through three sessions in their casual beach wear as well as Q&A session with the judges.
Credit must be given to the organizers, Style Africa, for bringing amazing innovation in auditions for beauty pageants. Unlike many others, the girls had lots of fun with various activities such as boat rides, photo shoots in the water fall among others. Indeed for most of the many hopefuls, the experience would still be worth even if they were not selected considering how much fun they had enjoyed. Mr. Kenneth Kumahlor, Executive Director of Style Africa, organisers of the event was quoted as saying that, “this is just a tip of the iceberg”. His outfit has put in place an impressive line-up of activities and a nationwide Production Tour of the entire 4 major coastal regions for the 12 finalists before the Grand Finale.
Miss Beach, GH 2010, looks to promote beach tourism across the nation using the contestants, and as such is a search for beauty with intelligence and personality to be able to market effectively to the rest of the world, Ghana's beach tourism potentials.
In the end, only three ladies with the right mix of finesse, beauty, eloquence and a wealth of knowledge about Ghana's tourism potentials would make the cut to be the face of beach tourism from each of the 4 Regions.
Thus, Dzifa, Shamima and Stella put up the most exceptional performances to meet the judges’ criteria and become the chosen ones to represent the Volta Region.
Speaking to the press afterwards, the three excited ladies threw a challenge to the rest of the country, with each of them predicting victory for themselves in the Grand finale.
