Wanlov Accuse Government For Not Doing Enough To Protect Ghanaian Art

Wanlov Kobolor, one of the FOKN Boyz- a music duo, has accused government of not doing enough to help the music industry in the country. In an interview with focus fm’s Kwame Poku (DJ Scientific) on the focus citi show, Wanlov talked about a charity concert they participated in to help Prof. John Collins, whose museum got flooded recently.

He said though it was the duty of the Ghanaian government to help revamp the museum, no help came from them. Prof. John Collins, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, has dedicated his life to documenting and preserving the history of Ghanaian highlife music.

Kobolor, in the interview said it is the responsibility of the government to keep a museum like the one Prof. Collins is keeping. He surmised that since the government has failed in doing that, they needed to support the old Professor to protect the history of Ghanaian music and arts.

Asked why they get to perform all over the world, he said their music style is unique and people all over the world are able to relate to their music because of the kind of things they say and the pidgin English they use.

He said Ghanaians should look out for their coastal tour by the end of August in which they will tour Takoradi, Kasoa, Tema and Accra after which they will do a tour of the northern half of the country.**
