Wassa Fiase to celebrate Odidi Festival

Tarkwa, Sept 15, GNA - The Wassa Fiase Traditional Council will celebrate its traditional festival known as the Odidi Festival from next year.

Consequently, the council has set up a committee to conduct a research into the historical background of the festival that would be celebrated every September.

Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil V1, the Omanhene of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, said this in an interview with the GNA on Tuesday. He said the festival has not been celebrated for decades and the council has now realised the need to celebrate it as part of tradition and also use the occasion to bring unity among the Wassa people. Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil said the council ''owes the Wassa people a duty to celebrate the festival because festivals these days are being used to bring about development projects.''

He said towns and villages would be allowed to perform their individual rites whiles the grand durbar of chiefs would be held at Tarkwa because the town has facilities to receive visitors.
