We haven't sidelined Zylofon Media artistes - Charterhouse Ghana

The Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, George Quaye has responded to several questions on why none of the six artistes signed onto Zylofon Media – Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Becca, Kumi Guitar, Obibini, and Joyce Blessing was billed for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards happening on Saturday, April 14 despite their nominations.

The spokesperson in a conversation on Radio Univer’s mid-morning entertainment show, Brunch2Lunch denied claims that his outfit has blacklisted all artistes of the Nana Appiah Mensah-owned record company due to a letter they were served seeking explanation on how Stonewboy was booked prior to this year’s nominees jam in Cape Coast.

According to him, all nominated artistes for the 19th edition of the awards cannot be booked for the final night so the public should not believe rumours that they intentionally sidelined all six artistes on Zylofon Media.

Mr. Quaye further told Zionfelix, the show host that it would not have been bad for either Shatta Wale or Stonebwoy to be part of the artistes lined up for the event but the already publicized musicians are equally good to entertain the audience on April 14 night.

To him, this year’s awards will not be the last edition so there should be no cause for alarm since the Zylofon Media signed acts can have the chance to perform at any of the subsequent editions.

“We have not blacklisted any artiste. We have several big and respectable musicians who are also not on the bill so the Zylofon Media artistes missing on the bill is not intentional on the side of the organisers to sideline them. We made sure all genres are fully represented and Samini on the bill is representing Reggae/dancehall category. It would not have been bad if we had booked Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale but I feel the list we have is a good representative of Ghanaian music and they will give the event a very good image. I agree with you (Zionfelix) that it would not have been bad to have any of the artistes from Zylofon but those we have billed are also not bad so let us use them for the event.

There will be many VGMAs in the coming years. Shatta Wale is back to the awards and who knows, he might be the headline artiste for next year’s event. We don’t have any problem as organisers of the event maybe Zylofon Media would have something else to say if you call them”. George Quaye told Zionfelix on Tuesday afternoon.

Zionfelix.net gathers that Joe Mettle, Sarkodie, MzVee, Kuame Eugene, Kidi, Samini, South Africa’s Nasty C and Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage are the performing artistes for the night.

Kelvyn Boy who won the unsung artiste will also be on the stage at the Accra International Conference Center this Saturday.

The show will be hosted by actor John Dumelo and TV/Radio host Berla Mundi.
