Western Regional Offices of TV Africa opened

Takoradi, March 22, GNA - Nana Kobina Nketsia V,

Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, has commended

TV Africa for its efforts to project the culture and values of

the country as well as those of Africa. He made the commendation when opening Western

Regional Offices of TV Africa at Takoradi. Nana Kobina Nketsia said what the television was doing

was important at this time because of the oil find. "We have to protect our own values over the oil

discovery in order to unite as a people", he said. Nana Kobina Nketsia said nothing concrete was being

done to resolve the identity crisis that the Ghanaian and for

that matter, Africans, were confronted with. He said many Ghanaians and Africans felt that anything

Ghanaian or African was not good and had adulterated their

culture and values with foreign ones. Nana Kobina Nketsia said the second phase of the

independence of the Africa should be the liberation of their

minds to see things from the African perspective. Mr. Berifi Apenteng, Managing Director of TV Africa,

said the offices were the first regional office of the station. He said Western Region is important to the station

because of the developments taking place in the area. Mr. Kwaw Ansah, Chief Executive Officer of the

Station, said the station was now part of the Western

Region and would help preserve its culture and values.
