Celebrated media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, has advised bloggers to use the power they have to talk about more important things that will benefit their followers, and also cause societal change, instead of using their precious time writing about celebrity gossip.

Nana Aba Anamoah gave this advice when she appeared on the popular KSM show, hosted by Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM).

KSM asked how her fame makes her feel as a journalist, especially when whatever she says makes news headlines.

Nana Aba Anamoah who looked a bit emotional about the question responded that she wished bloggers did more important things that would shape society than focusing on her.

She noted, that there are so many things that needed to be talked about, but unfortunately, bloggers spend too much of their time reporting on what others post on social media, a practice she refers to as lazy journalism.

“For bloggers you can do so much with the power you wield. I think that bloggers in this country have no idea how powerful they are, but they are concentrating so much on celebrities, but they could use their platform to change so many things in this country because they have the following. People follow them because they feel they are going to report gossip, they are going to tell them who Nana Aba is sleeping with, but that does not change anything in this country. Who I sleep with does not affect the price of kenkey,” she said.

Nana Aba continued that, if bloggers were focusing on more important things that really matter, then they could cause the needed change the society desired.

“If we were focusing on the things that really matter if you are a blogger that people would mention in certain circles and say that because of you this has changed, then you can pat yourself on the back,” she concluded.

Nana Aba Anamoah said bloggers can still chase the gossip, but they can also do more.
