The stage is set for the 2019 edition of the Ghana Make-Up Awards, the biggest and most anticipated night in Ghana’s make-up and industry , and many are wondering which of the industry’s top ‘guns’ will come out as the biggest victors.
This year’s award ceremony is slated for Saturday, May 11 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, where make-up artistry is expected to rule the red carpet for the third time since the award’s inception.
The ceremony will be hosted by the award-winning TV & radio personality, Anita Erskine, with anticipated pulsating performances from singer Cina Soul.
The CEO of Make-Up Ghana, Rebecca Donkor, told NEWS-ONE on Thursday that she is looking up to an exceptional evening on Saturday.
“We are committed to presenting a great show as we always do to honour, celebrate and promote excellence in the make-up and artistry industry. Congratulations to all who have been nominated. I wish you all the best on Saturday,” she stated.
A lot of fingers are crossed in anticipation of who will win what at the awards ceremony.
In all, 71 nominees were shortlisted from 137 entries for the awards across all the categories.
They include nominees and winners from the previous editions and new faces who have entered to compete for the top spot in their respective categories.
Renowned make-up artist, Valerie Lawson, leads the nominations with four categories.
She is in top competition with other big make-up artist names such as Alice Asante (Aligiinamakeover), Christabel Jones and Marfoa Acheampong.
Celebrities such as Nana Ama McBrown, Zynnell Zuh, Selly Galley and are also competing for most glamorous celebrity of the year.
Brands such as Kaeme Shea Butter Cream, Skin Gourmet Clay Mask, R&R Serenity Shea Oil and Hamamat Golden Shea Butter also battling it out for skincare product of the year category.
