Seun Kuti, one of the sons of Afrobeats icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has shared a startling revelation about an alleged scheme by late politician MKO Abiola and his wife, Simbiat Abiola, to incriminate his father.
In a video posted on social media, Seun Kuti claimed that MKO and his wife falsely accused Fela of robbing her of a Ferrari, which led to Fela's arrest during the regime of General Idiagbon, when armed robbery carried a death penalty.
According to Seun, Fela was performing in Cameroon at the time of the alleged robbery, which contradicted Simbiat's statement to the police.
Fela questioned how he could be robbing her in Lagos while performing in another country, which helped him evade the false accusation.
In response to the accusation, Seun recounted how Fela retaliated by collecting 12 buckets of feces and spreading them across Abiola's premises. Fela even released a song titled "Give Me Shit, I Give You Shit" in response to the incident.
Seun emphasised that despite the gravity of the accusation and the potential consequences, Fela maintained his innocence when questioned by the police.
The revelation sheds light on a turbulent period in Fela Kuti's life, highlighting his resilience and bold actions against what he perceived as injustice.
