Apart from his recent efforts to cement his claim as the originator of hiplife, music great, Reggie Rockstone has also been busy defending and clarifying issues relating to just one artiste Sarkodie.

Explaining to Razz Newspaper Reporter Mustapha Inusah, why he is always quick to defend and explain issues regarding the ‘Illuminati’ rapper, Reggie stated that, many critics have lamented on his habit of always defending Sarkodie on every issue but such complaints will not stop him from defending anything hiplife including the musicians.

“I have passed through all the processes Sarkodie is passing through now, so I think I need to use myself and my experience to help address issues. Moreover, it is not just Sarkodie, I defend anyone in the hiplife fraternity unless that person is wrong on the particular issue on board,” he explained.

Reggie Rockstone continued, that in the past, he defended musicians like Obrafour, Tictac , VIP etc and that he doesn’t feel offended when people insult him because he’s defending Sarkodie.

He added that, most of the things he says about Sarkodie, whether on radio or on social media; he discusses with the artiste, although he is not officially part of his management team.

“I am not part of his management team and not his PRO, but no matter what people say I will speak my mind and tell you what I think. The media calls me when issues concerning hiplife musicians crop up. If I don’t qualify to speak on such issues, why will the media even call me in the first place?” he queried.

As to why he doesn’t defend Shatta Wale as often as he defends Sarkodie, especially when the two generate the most news, arguably, he stated that Sarkodie is not like Shatta Wale.

“Sarkodie is not like Shatta Wale. Shatta Wale is outspoken, Sarkodie is different and doesn’t really mind about what people say about him so I see no need why I should be speaking for Shatta Wale,” he said.

According to him, Sarkodie respects his opinions and sometimes when they meet and talk, Sarkodie tells him that he (Reggie) should have been a lawyer instead of a musician, because of the way he speaks on issues relating to him (Sarkodie).

Speaking about ‘Sarkodie History In the Making’ concert, he stated that, he still stands by the fact that Okyeame Qouphi shouldn’t have come out on the topic.

“I never said Qouphi Okyeame is wrong or he’s not telling the truth, but the timing is wrong. Sarkodie was gaining all the international attention and praises, and for Okyeame to come out to condemn him at that time is wrong,” he stated.

In other related matters, Reggie Rockstone blamed the media for fueling all the problems between him and Promzy.

“I don’t have a problem with Promzy. Recently, Promzy posted something positive about me and I called out a section of the media stating that, if it were to be negative the media would have published but the positive story, they have all ignored it,” he said.
