Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo has voiced concerns over what he perceives as men being treated as "endangered species."
Speaking on the podcast "The Honest Bunch," co-hosted by Husband Material and Deity Cole, Kanayo expressed disappointment that wealthy men often lavish money on female actors. He believes this creates a perception that male actors are not working hard enough, despite being equally talented and dedicated to their craft.
“Many Nigerian rich men patronize our women and provide them with benefits that make us look like we are not putting in enough effort,” he lamented.
He continued, “These rich men often spend exorbitantly on our female colleagues to the extent that it impoverishes us. You call a girl, she becomes your girlfriend, she asks for funding for a production and demands between N100 million to N150 million, and you provide it. But if it were me, KOK, you would say ‘go and work hard, my friend.’
“Let's address this issue because have you ever seen any woman asking for financial assistance for medical expenses? It's always the men. We are becoming an endangered species, that's what I'm saying.”
