The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is the biggest musical and entertainment- related event in Ghana, and for 18 years, www.entertainmentgh.com knows that the awards night has served as the platform where the biggest and most popular artists at the time, crave an opportunity to showcase their stagecraft.
With the spotlight of the awards heavily based on performances, it is a given that artists that are doing well at the time of the awards are contracted for the stage and it is an indisputable fact, that several of the artists on the Zylofon label are doing well, at this time!
Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kumi Guitar, Becca, Joyce Blessing and Obinini have remained relevant and dominant in this period and the enlisting of two or more of the Zylofon-recording artists would not have been a travesty. Unfortunately, none will perform come Saturday night, when thousands gather and millions of viewers tune in to watch the biggest event in Ghanaian show business.
Investigations by www.entertainmentgh.com show that, Charterhouse decided to stay clear of any Zylofon artist due the hue and cry that ensued over the performance or non-performance of Stonebowy at the VGMA Nominees Jam held at Cape Coast some weeks ago.
The events firm is said to have received a couple of letters from the management of Zylofon on the usage of Stonebwoy for that gig, including one which accused them of trickery – in using the name of the artist to sell the show.
It bodes well to have the biggest events firm and the biggest record label in Ghana to work together and it would have been germane to have a Shatta Wale, a Stonebwoy or a Kumi Guitar on that stage, but www.entertainmentgh.com found out that, Charterhouse were not ready for another fuss of a telenovela with Zylofon.
The event would still come on as highly expected and Joe Mettle, Sarkodie, MzVee, Kuame Eugene, Kidi, Samini and many others are on the bill, plus – South Africa’s Nasty C and Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage are performing too!
