Why is Nana Aba Anamoah trending?

TV presenter, Nana Aba Anamaoah is trending on social media for posting a picture she took of herself with an iPhone 11.

Apple recently released its new models, iPhone 11, Pro and Pro Max into the market and this caused a lot of buzz on social media. The new phones come with a starting price of $999 and $1,099, for the iPhone 11Pro and Pro Max respectively.

Celebrities who have purchased this expensive device have started posting it on social media, and that is what Nana Aba Anamoah did earlier today on Instagram.

Her post, however, has caused massive trolling on Twitter, with many claiming she borrowed the phone to take pictures, and so should not behave as if the phone was hers.

Some trolls went as far as digging up pictures of her with her original iphone, which was not the new 11 she posted on Instagram.

A tweep with the name @NanaYaaPrempeh said: “Nana Aba Good morning ooo. Have you returned the iPhone 11 to the owner? Let’s live a real life, no faking.”

Others also questioned the sense in buying a phone that was so expensive. They made the analogy that even if one has an ok job that paid over GH¢5000, it still didn’t make sense to buy a phone this pricey.

@3yGhana said: “This is not about Nana aba, just the truth. The iPhone 11 pro max cost around 10k+400cedis and some coins. Even if you have an OK job which pays around 5k per month, that's more than your 2 months salary. For an accessory? That's just stupid!”

Whiles these twitter trolls were having a field day with Nana Aba, others questioned why something as trivial as owning an iPhone 11 should make her (Nana Aba) trend when Uganda is trending because they won the Komla Dumor award.

@saf 88128061 said: “Uganda is making their country trend because they won 2019 BBC Komla Dumor award and meanwhile Ghanaians are making Nana Aba trend just for showing her iPhone. What is even wrong with Ghanaians nowadays... Smh..”

Another tweep, Abena Yalley, wondered with all the problems in the country including the latest PDS saga, communication tax etc, Ghanaians have chosen to troll Nana Aba instead over an iPhone.

She tweeted: “Wow you guys actually made Nana Aba trend over what actually? IPhone 11 Pro max? Anyways have we stopped talking about the PDS saga? The communication tax? And how we are hustling hard in this economy but still broke all the time?”
