Winning VGMA has added nothing to my career - Edem

VRMG boss Denning Edem Hector popularly known in Showbiz circles as Edem has revealed that winning the VGMAs has added nothing to his career.

The awards, however, serve as a form of appreciation, recognition and honor from people who find an artiste deserving in the year in question, he conceded.

In an interview with Showbiz927 host Kenneth Addo on 3fm 92.7, Edem maintained that winning awards in Ghana does not add anything to one’s career. He stated that he has always focused on going the extra mile to give Ghanaians hit songs.

He remarked that one doesn’t get paid or get booked for shows because he won the artiste of the year without putting in personal efforts.

The Volta rap king mentioned other big artistes and producers who have not won awards in a while but are being recognised through their music and production respectively. He made mention of artistes like Obrafuor, 2Pac, Bob Marley and one of the famous producers in Ghana Hammer. He said that these celebrities do not focus solely on winning awards but work extremely hard for people to love their music.

He, therefore, advised upcoming acts not to focus on winning awards, but should rather work hard to put out good songs for the people to enjoy, through which they can make ends meet.
