Nigerian pop star, Wizkid missed out on a number of chances to get his first ever American Music Awards last night.
His collaboration with Drake on ‘One Dance’ won him three nominations including Favourite Pop/Rock Song, Favourite Soul/R&B Song, and Collaboration of the Year.
Meanwhile, Drake, who got 13 nominations, won four awards; Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Artiste, Favourite Soul/R&B Song for ‘Work’ with Rihanna, Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Song for ‘Hotline Bling’ and Favourite Album — Rap/Hip-Hop for his fourth studio album, Views.
Adele and Desiigner were also the biggest losers at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles where the awards ceremony held.
‘Hello’ singer Adele had a total of four nominations including Favourite Pop/Rock Female Artiste, Favourite Pop/Rock song for ‘Hello’, Favourite Adult Contemporary Artiste and Favourite Pop/Rock Album for 25 but she missed out on all but one; going home with only the Favourite Adult Contemporary Artiste award.
Kanye West signee, Desiigner on his part couldn’t get his hand on a gong for his debut hit song ‘Panda’ that lost out in Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Song and Video of the Year categories.
Trap king, Future, who performed at the 2016 MAMAs in South Africa, didn’t make the winners list either, despite his two nominations.
