Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur Mr. Eazi for the first time has reacted to the announcement Wizkid made at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards that he has signed him to his Starboy Worldwide Record Label.
The ‘Bankuliz’ singer in a conversation with Giovani on Starr FM in Accra stated that he was not signed to the record label. He explained that the public misunderstood the ‘Sexy’ singer’s comments on the night of last year’s VGMAs.
According to him, Starboy Worldwide is a label that belongs to all artistes on the record label – Wizkid, R2bees, Efya and himself.
Mr. Eazi added that they came together to form the label with the aim of “breaking into world market”.
The Alumnus of KNUST disclosed that he was surprised to hear after the awards that Wizkid has signed him on Starboy Worldwide.
“The night after the award I heard those comments and I was just like this is just silly. We all came together and said let’s come up with a platform, Starboy Worldwide and our aim is to take the music to the world. Starboy Worldwide is a collective organisation specifically to push African music worldwide” he told host of Starr Drive," Mr. Eazi explained.
Wizkid announced at last year’s Ghana Music Awards that he has signed R2bees, Efya and Mr. Eazi on his Starboy Worldwide Record label and this had many talking about the deal.
Whilst some people thought the two Ghanaian musicians were popular and good enough to be on their own, others thought joining Wizkid on the same record label would help them.
