Woman Attacks Husband

A housewife, Mrs. Janet Parku, was on Tuesday remanded in police custody by the chairman of the Madina Community Tribunal Mrs. Ivy Heward Mills for slashing her husband with a sharp cutlass.

She is to reappear for hearing on September 24.

Narrating the case in court, prosecuting Chief Inspector Margaret Awini said on September 14, at about 12.30a.m, the accused, Mrs. Parku was alleged to have slashed her husband Mr. Phydelis Parku on several parts of his body with a sharp cutlass while both were in their bedroom.

Mr. Phydelis Parku during the struggling screamed for help and this attracted some nearby tenants, who rushed to assist.

Mrs. Parku told them it was an armed robber who had attacked.

The tenant got scared and quickly called the Madina Police for assistance and when they arrived, Mr. Parku was found unconscious and soaked in blood with multiple cutlass wounds on the body. The victim was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment and was reported by the Madina Police to be in critical condition.
