Woman Shocks Trader In Kumasi

A Kumasi trader who received an unusual proposal for a night’s treat from a lady he barely knew on December 26, did not think twice before grabbing what he thought was an opportunity.

In the end he was left gnashing his teeth as the lady turned out to be a confidence trickster who managed to escape with his Nokia mobile phone.

The trader, Daniel Kwakye Marfo, 29, attracted a sizeable crowd when he started narrating his experience to some friends yesterday morning at Asafo, a Kumasi suburb.

According to him, the lady whose name he could only give as Dufie, saw him at Asafo in the morning of December 26 and pleaded with him to help her locate a good phone repairer to work on her faulty mobile phone to which he obliged.

After several hours of visiting various shops, he said, nobody could repair the phone. Dufie claimed to be so impressed about his gesture and, therefore, to show her appreciation, she offered to pay back in kind by spending the night with him in his house.

By 5pm on the fateful day, Dufie met the trader and he took her home where they had a long conversation. Marfo said at about 7pm he decided to buy some food for the lady so he left her in the room and went out.

He returned a few minutes later only to find out that his guest had left. Dufie, he said, had bolted with his brand new mobile phone, which he said cost him over ¢2 million.

His plan was to report the matter to the police but his friends talked him out of that claiming that even if the lady was arrested, she would rather blame him once he took her to his room.

They advised him to mobilise some funds to buy a new phone and forget about the case.
