Asamankese, May 14, GNA- An unemployed woman at Suhum who suspected another woman of befriending her husband and allegedly stabbed her in the back has been remanded until May 26, by the Asamankese Circuit Court on Thursday. Rita Asiedu was said to have stabbed Esther Navro, a trader and injured Master Ansah Lartey, a student, with a kitchen knife on October 10, 2003.
Detective Chief Inspector Osei Owusu, told the court, that in September last year, Rita suspected Esther of flirting with her husband and threatened to deal with her. He said on October 15, 2003, at about 2000 hours, Esther who was on her way to town met Rita but nothing happened between them, however, on reaching a section of the road she felt a stab at her back.
The prosecution said when she turned round, she saw Rita with a kitchen knife in her hand and inflicted several wounds on Esther. The prosecution said Ansah came out of his house and attempted to separate them, but in the process, Rita slashed him with the knife. Detective Chief Inspector Owusu some people came to the rescue of the victims and took them to hospital.
A report was later made to the police but all efforts to locate Rita failed until May 8, this year, when she was found with a relative of hers.
