The visuals for Ghanaian rapper Worlasi’s “Booze High” track off his “Outlane” EP is 'baked' and ready to be served.

The talented musician held a preview session Saturday, May 12 to unveil the video to press men prior to its release in the coming weeks.

According to Worlasi, the concept for “Booze High” is about drinking and getting high. It was derived from a synthesis of how people get off their busy schedules at the workplace by spending time with family and friends “drinking off” their problems.

The animated video depicts various physical, spiritual, and emotional challenges that humans are faced with on daily basis and empowers one to defy the odds by taking a breather from life even in critical moments.

The rapper, who professed his love for animations speaking at the press screening recounted an experience from his childhood where he vowed not to take alcoholic drinks in his lifetime.

But, growing up he broke his pledge as he mingled with friends and developed a significant social life.

“Growing up you go out with friends, you start to take in some small alcohol but it got to a point I kept asking myself why we do this?... It’s like at that point you go out to chill and you know you have to go to work tomorrow but you ignore it and have fun to release some stress,” he said.

The visuals of “Booze High” was produced by animator and video director, Peter Poka.

Worlasi is a rapper from Ghana making big strides and changing the game in Ghana. He has been active in the game less than five years.

He has two albums to show for it and has worked with top Ghanaian artists such as Sarkodie and M.anifest to mention a few.

On this EP, Worlasi challenges himself even more by stepping out of his comfort zone to experiment with different music forms by collaborating with multiple producers; something he has kept to the very minimum.

It is another step in the producer/rapper-singer’s journey to self-discovery and an exploration of new narratives and reinvented forms of sonic expression. This follows a small number of projects he has worked on with producers outside the usual suspects Qube, Maxi and himself.

Outerlane is a prelude to Worlasi’s first album. The EP is a mix of socially aware lyricism with just the perfect dose of dance ready bangers”
