Wutah ‘Splits’ Up

Sensational music duo, Wutah made up of Daniel Morris (Risky or Wutah Kobby) and Frank Osei (Papa Virus or PV) is believed to have gone their separate ways.

It is unclear why they are separating but sources say they are planning to embark on solo careers and may come back together in the future.

Speaking on Hitz FM Tuesday, Risky denied the news saying he is just working on a solo project which they have agreed on and that they are currently also working on an album they will be releasing next year.

PV tried playing down the story saying, “My colleague (Risky) has his solo album coming out but currently we agreed on doing solo projects individually but for now my album isn’t ready. I am not too eager to release an album...”

When asked if they are still together, he said, “We are very good friends,” relating their case to Sisqo and Dru Hill (where Sisqo was still a member of Dru Hill but had a solo career outside the group).

“There are issues that trigger other things like the Ghana Music Awards where I was given the Best Male Vocal performer award. It means one artiste within a group was picked and awarded. It means they singled out one; it had to be like that. There was no way two people could have been given that award so he (Risky) is also embarking on his project to probably bring out what is in him.” PV added.

PV was however again quick to add that they will still ride on the name of Wutah and they will from time-to-time come together to perform on stage. The group Wutah, a Hausa word for fire was formed some five years ago and the two came into the limelight when they placed second to Praye during the maiden edition of the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra.

They have won several awards including recently, High life Song of the year, Reggae Song of the year and PV winning Best Male Vocal Performance at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards.
