Ghanaian actor John Peasah, renowned for his role as Drogba in the TV series YOLO, has shared an update on his ongoing health struggles.

In a heartfelt video posted on social media, Peasah, who is currently battling demyelinating disease, explained why he had ceased sharing photos from his hospital visits. He revealed that his doctors were uneasy with the constant updates to the public, hence his absence.

“I’m sorry. I haven't actually informed you about what was wrong with me, but the main issue is, as for the hospital, I go. However, it reached a point where the doctors were uncomfortable with me taking pictures all the time. That’s why I don’t do it anymore,” he expressed.

He also detailed his challenges with speech problems and persistent back and neck pain, which restrict his ability to engage in vigorous exercises.

He also posted another video of himself struggling to walk, mentioning that he often needs assistance when walking in public.

“I can't fully describe how I feel at times. My speech becomes an issue. Additionally, the pain in my back persists. I engage in light exercises because intense exercises trigger something. I also have a neck problem,” he added.

John Peasah reassured his fans that he is actively working towards improving his health and well-being. He remained positive and expressed hope for recovery despite the obstacles.

“I do everything that you may not think I do. I do all those things. I’m just hopeful for the best, that everything will be okay,” he added.

His emotional update has received an outpouring of support from fans who continue to wish him well.

What happened?

In March 2024, it was revealed that John Peasah was battling a serious health condition called demyelination, which affects the nervous system and can impact vision, coordination, and sensation.

His sister, Hannah Mensah, shared that Peasah's health issues emerged during the final season of 'YOLO'.

In response to his condition, there has been a significant show of support, including a visit and financial contributions from Dr. Bawumia, the NPP's flagbearer, and Drogba's friends.

A fundraising campaign was also initiated to help cover the costs of his treatment abroad.
