A Nigerian actor Joseph Okechuku, has praised Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for showing exemplary leadership by lifting the partial lockdown placed on parts of the country three weeks ago.

President Akufo Addo yesterday Sunday 19th April, in his seventh address to the nation on updates and measures to prevent the coronavirus spread, said per data available to him, he was lifting the three week partial lockdown which had been in effect the past three weeks.

President Akufo-Addo quoted scientific data gathering, intensive contact tracing, revamping domestic capacity to produce PPEs and the severe impact on the poor among others as reasons for lifting the ban.

Whiles many Ghanaians expressed surprise about the sudden lift of the ban, others rejoiced, touting his strong leadership, one of them being Nollywood actor, Joseph Okechuku.

In a video sighted by Ghanaweb, the actor, whiles praising the Ghanaian president for his decision, took the opportunity to advise president Buhari to follow the footsteps of his colleague president, who didn’t just lockdown because others did same, but rather, he should use science and data to make such decisions.

“All over the world, let them go on the ground and collect data just like Ghana did…tell us, how is the virus behaving in your own country, get the data and based on the data you get, use that to determine what happens in your own country...do not lock your country down because someone predicted there will be five hundred deaths in three months…” the actor said.
