Noted Ghanaian media personality and host of GHOne's State of Affairs program, Nana Aba Anamoah has debunked the prevailing notion that 'women are only complete if they get married’.

According to Nana Aba, many Ghanaian women are facing immense societal pressures to get hitched, which she does not understand, as settling down with a man and household responsibilities does not equate a fulfilled woman.

"That is so archaic and stupid. I wonder why you’re only ticked complete when you’re married. So the hard work, waking up at dawn doing research, toiling, sweating, you mean that doesn’t count…? That is why a lot of people are married and the divorce rate is so high, and until we get men not to speak the same way like some men speak and women who feel they are married so everyone woman should be married. Then it means I am on TV and every lady should be. There is pressure on them to settle down…" she said during her interview on the KSM show.

Nana Aba further argued the reason for the high divorce rates in recent years is due to the perception that for a person (mainly a woman) to be complete in life, they need to be married, a concept she believes should now be debunked by both sexes.

When the host, Kwaku Sintim-Misa asked for her thoughts on the controversial relationship counselor George Lutterodt's comments on her personal life, Nana Aba dismissed his words.

She stated she would not 'descend to gutters' to speak on him or anyone else for that matter, who assumed they knew people better than they know themselves.
