You’re collapsing Kumawood  with your ‘juju’ claims - Christiana Awuni blasts Portia Asare

Actress Christiana Awuni Actress Christiana Awuni

Ghanaian actress Christiana Awuni has criticized her colleague Portia Asare for attributing the decline of the Kumawood movie industry to spiritual sabotage, known locally as 'juju'.

Awuni argued that while spiritual sabotage might occur due to personal dislikes, such claims are not substantial enough to explain the industry's downfall.

Awuni expressed concern that Portia's public statements about 'juju' could further tarnish Kumawood's reputation and deter people from supporting their films, potentially leading to the industry's collapse.

In a video shared on Instagram by MariGyata, Awuni said in Twi "Portia doesn't like associating with people, so I don't know what she has seen that influenced her to make that comment. She is the one who wants to collapse the business with the minor state that we are now managing.

"No matter what, someone will hate you, so if you dislike people, what do you want them to do to you? Even when you greet her, the way she responds is different, unlike McBrown, Vivian Jill, and others who are lovely."

Portia's comments, made during an interview with Ahodwo TV, highlighted internal conflicts and spiritual sabotage as reasons for Kumawood's decline.

She emphasized that hatred and a lack of unity among colleagues have negatively impacted the production and quality of Kumawood films.

"People are asking why Kumawood is dead. It is because of hatred! People are using spiritual means to sabotage their colleagues instead of loving and supporting each other," Portia said.

Her remarks have sparked criticism from some Kumawood actors and actresses who disagree with her views.
