The former actress, now the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Tema Central constituency, Ebi Bright has revealed that she has received numerous death threats since she won the right to contest in the area in her party's primaries.

The actress has said some unknown persons have made several attempts on her life, with the recent incident happening only a month ago.

According to Ms. Bright, her car had been run off the road a number of times, and she had received threatening phone calls and text messages, warning about her role in the political game.

She has however declared, that despite the attacks and threats she is ready and willing to serve the people of Tema.

"You have cause to be certain about the fact that it is people who are not comfortable with the fact that you are running because they make it very clear. They can’t take my life and they won’t even slow me down because I can’t be a weak person if I decided to take up a constituency that was always going to be a challenge for me,” she said, when speaking to Citi News.

Ms. Bright is set to contest aginst the incumbent NPP member of parliament, Kofi Brako.

She added that she will still push to contest in the upcoming elections regardless of the threats being thrown at her, saying that they will do little to hold her back.

Threats of attacks on the lives of members of the various political parties are nothing new to the Ghana political scene.

John Dumelo only a few months ago, said that he had received several threatening phone calls since he declared his support for the NDC and President Mahama.
