Kumawood actress Elorm Aba has criticized her colleague, Portia Asare, for alleging that spiritual sabotage by some individuals caused the decline of the movie industry.

Aba argued that spiritual sabotage, known locally as 'juju,' exists in every profession, not just the movie industry, making Portia's claims unfounded.

She stated that Portia's remarks have damaged Kumawood's reputation, which could negatively impact the industry's integrity.

Aba advised Portia to leave acting if she cannot handle the industry's challenges as a Christian.

“Juju is everywhere; no matter what you do, people will use it. If she can't stand it, she should stop working, because I see she is back. We recently heard about Dr. Likee’s situation; does it mean he will stop working? It depends. When you say it openly, it collapses our job and tarnishes our image.

“If you’re claiming Juju is hindering progress in the industry, what are you trying to imply? I don’t agree with what Portia said; we don’t talk that way. I don’t hate her; it’s the truth,” she said in Twi in a video shared by Marigyata on Instagram on August 19, 2024.

This follows Portia's statement that internal conflicts and spiritual sabotage led to the decline of the Kumawood movie industry.

In an interview with Ahodwo TV, Portia discussed the negative impact of hatred and a lack of unity among colleagues, which she said resulted in a decrease in both the production and quality of Kumawood films.

“People are asking why Kumawood is dead. It is because of hatred! People are using spiritual means to sabotage their colleagues instead of loving and supporting each other,” she said.
