Actress Yvonne Nelson celebrated a major milestone on July 31, 2024, with the grand opening of the Yvonne Nelson International School (YNIS) at East Legon Hills.

The inauguration also featured the graduation of children from Just Like Mama Daycare to YNIS.

Yvonne Nelson, who is the Director of these institutions, delivered a heartfelt speech emphasizing the transformative journey of the institution from a construction site to a beacon of educational excellence.

Her address focused on the school’s vision to revolutionize education in Ghana. She highlighted YNIS’s commitment to providing a holistic education that nurtures both academic and personal growth, ensuring that each student stands out among their peers.

“Today begins a new era, YNIS is born,” said the award-winning actress.

Reflecting on the journey to this day, the actress said, “Waking up this morning, I could not help but reminisce on events that have led to this day. The good, the bad and the ugly. They have all converged to bring us to this very moment.”

She also drew inspiration from the Parable of Talents, encouraging the young graduates, “Unlike the servant who hid his talents, it’s refreshing to witness such young individuals utilize your God-given talents and press on, irrespective of challenges you may have faced.”

She expressed belief in their bright futures, saying, “You are all great. Every single one of you. There’s not a doubt in my mind of the dazzling future that awaits you. My only hope is that you never fail to remember the discipline and values that have been instilled in you since you first stepped foot into this institution.”

She also extended her gratitude to the parents, teachers and staff, acknowledging their pivotal roles in the school’s success.

“Parents, words have begun to fail me when it comes to praising you. My gratitude for you all is perpetual,” she said.

To the staff and teachers, she expressed appreciation for their exceptional work: “You treat your job with such grace and skill that I deem exceptional. Your well-being is a priority.”
