I knew it was only a matter of time for Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson to respond to accusations leveled at actors and actresses turned producers as the cause of the falling standards in the Ghanaian movie industry and my thoughts were just right.
Barely 24 hours after the Golden Movie Awards Africa 2017 held in Accra, Ghana, Yvonne Nelson has taken to Twitter to bemoan the sickening state of the Ghanaian movie industry.
She expressed disappointment in the fact that many were only interested in slaying on red carpets than putting in the “same energy to bring back the dead industry rather than slay on carpets…”
Not only that, the actress minced no words in addressing Mimi Andani, Director of the Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA), who in an interview in May 2017 blamed actors/actresses turned producers for the falling standards in the Ghanaian movie industry.
In the said interview with Doreen Avio, the musician turned event organizer is quoted as having said;
“The reason why people say its [industry is] suffering is because of the independent productions. Production houses have stopped producing because, actresses have the money and they can just pick a camera and shoot so it’s like if I don’t produce, then I don’t act because the production house who are supposed to be employing the actors, are not producing because, actors and actresses are competing with them,” the Former Big Brother Africa representative said.
“Now this is the defence of the actresses, they are also saying that, they get to a point in their lives and they want to be a production house. For example, YN Productions, even though the figure is Yvonne Nelson, it says YN Productions meaning, it’s a production house so what do you do with a situation like that?” she added.
Waiting for the day there's no production to nominate since that has skipped them!

When an industry doesn't know its priorities, this is what happens!!!! The shallow minds will def have a problem with this.
