Finally after months of preparation and pre-events the 7th Annual Nigeria Entertainment Awards was held Sept. 2 in New York City and the winners of the 2012 NEA Awards were officially announced.
The event, which took place at the NYU Skirball Performing Arts Center, saw a large turnout of fans that were out to support their favorite entertainers while at the same time looking to have a wonderful evening filled with outstanding performances and rib cracking skits, and the entertainers definitely delivered.
Yvonne Okoro won the Pan African actress with the movie, ‘Single Six’, beating Ama K. Abebrese (Ties That Bind), and Juliet Ibrahim (Crazy Scandal), Kudzai Sevenzo (Playing Warriors), Jokate Mwegelo (Chumo) and Millicent Makheido (48).
In the male category, Majid Michel won the Pan African actor with the movie, ‘Somewhere in Africa’, a movie which has seen him smile already in different awards, but this time he floored John Dumelo (Ties That Bind), Van Vicker (Paparazzi), Chris Attoh (6 Hours To Christmas), Kevin Ndege Mamboleo (Inside Story) and Edward Kagutuzi (The Mirror Boy).
Though both winners were not at the award ceremony because the organizers failed to inform them about their various nominations, we still say “congratulations” to the duo for their feat.
