2012 election is an ‘Azonto’ election-Independent Candidate

Jacob Osei Yeboah, an Independent presidential candidate has described the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections as “Azonto elections”. Azonto is a popular Ghanaian dance which has gained global prominence in recent times.

Jacob Osei Yeboah made this comment when delivering his solidarity message to the Progressive People’s Party at its first national convention at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to him, “the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) have performed woefully in governance and must give way to a new political party or independent minded person to move Ghana forward”.

He added that, “the NDC and NPP will go away after December 2012. They (NPP and NDC) must be washed away. They have become like dirty clothes that one can no longer wear. You can’t wear them for any international meeting because part has become dirty and evil. This is the year of judgment for these parties”.

He mentioned that the NDC and NPP functionaries have been engaged in insults and counter insults and advised the electorate not to give them the mandate in the 2012 elections adding “they will destroy Ghana like Gbagbo and Alhassane Outtara destroyed Ivory Coast”.

He admonished members of the new Progressive People’s Party to believe in themselves and work hard to bring change to Ghana.

The convention, which was the first national convention of the party, was well attended with representatives coming from all the 230 constituencies across the country.
