A Vote For Akuffo Addo Is A Vote For ...

JUSTICE, ACCOUNTABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT.

From: Stephen A. Quaye, Toronto-Canada.

Many politicians have come and gone with their own different styles of politics which brought them to fame or no where. Whether good or bad, they left a legacy behind which are to guide us the present generation as to which direction to go.
Which direction to go means which political strategies groups and persons in politics have to adopt in undertaking their activities. After all total development of our societies and country as a whole is what we are all looking up to.
It is sickening to hear some people describing politics as moments for election of presidents and parliamentarians and when these are done the chapter of politics must be closed till the next election year.
But anyone who clearly understands politics knows that it is the formulating of policies and programmes as well as ensuring the implementation of these policies to bring about the total well being of the citizenry by persons who have the ideology.
When the people’s mindset are cleared of the perception that politics is dirty, is just electing presidents and parliamentarians, then no one can sway anybody with different ideology as the electorates will look out for the best man with the qualities to lead them.
The New Patriotic Party [NPP] is going to the poll exactly a week today as at the time of filing this article to elect a presidential candidate to contest the 2012 general election on the party’s ticket.
As it was put in the other article, all the aspirants have done a good job by touring all the constituencies in the country to canvas votes from the delegates who will be making the choice for the party.
None of the five aspirants is a bad material. They are all men of sound mind, academically perfect and able to lead the party in the next general elections. But among them extra care must be exercised to ensure that the one with all the marketable strategies that will win the much needed votes for the NPP to triumph in the election is chosen.
Here comes where one is forced to make predictions as to who will emerge as the winner out of the lot and if I am allowed to make my predictions known then is Nana Akuffo Addo.
Let us forget about the huge numbers being recorded so far in predictions as to who is going to carry the day of the NPP delegate’s congress. Maybe is an indication of what is going to happen at the end of the polls.
Since predictions are not done merely, but with reasons and explanations, kindly allow me to highlight on couple of reasons why I predicted that Nana Akuffo Addo is going to emerge as the winner at the congress.
Apart from his personal commitment to the formation and sustainability of party politics, establishment of true democracy his corrupt free leadership services rendered to the nation as former minister of justice and attorney general and foreign affairs are exhibits for everyone to see.
Whiles campaigning alongside with the former president Kufuor, he made clear that should the electorates vote for the party to get into power, it was going to ensure justice is served every individual.
True to his promises when appointed the minister of justice and attorney general, he improved the justice system by introducing the “fast track court” system which speed up on prosecution cases that were taking too long a time to prosecute in our law courts.
Under the administration of President Kufuor as justice minister, Nana Akuffo Addo, proved to Ghanaians that no one was above the law by prosecuting the former minister of youth and sports Malam Issah over the missing 46,000 dollars Black Star winning bonuses in Sudan. He was found guilty by the court and served a jail sentence.
People developed confidence in the law courts where they went to seek justice when feeling cheated by the state, government officials or individuals by presenting their cases to be determined and were satisfied.
Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, like the humble servant learning so that when his master is no more can stair affairs, teamed up with his master the gentle giant J.A.Kuffuor to render accountability to the nation every year in what was called peoples assembly.
Always sitting at his right hand side faces the general public in questions and answers form after the former president has rendered his full accounts as to how he run the country in the previous year which should tell everyone he was raising Nana how to do it after him.
Can anyone confirm or otherwise a holding of national, regional and district people’s assembly for the ordinary Ghanaian to ask the president any question. Is two years since it took over power any reason for no show?
Serving as the minister of foreign affairs under former president Kuffuor, was for a reason and that reason is what is now emerging that really the gentle giant trained Nana Akuffo Addo to follow his footsteps.
Come to making promises to the electorate to win their votes and it could be realized that Nana Akuffu Addo is not someone who just give promises without fulfilling them.
Together with president Kuffuor, Nana campaigned on promises of creating jobs for the youth and it came to pass that the national youth employment programme [NYEP] was established to train numerous Ghanaian youth in all professions.
Nana Akuffo Addo’s contacts with international organizations and experience in wooing foreign investors is wonderful that there is no doubt that when elected NPP presidential candidate and becomes the next president there will be development in Ghana.
If the delegates are going to live by the words of our forefathers which says,” what we know and has tested is what we bear testimonies of” then they should bear it at the back of their minds that Nana Akuffo Addo is a tried and tested presidential material they need to support to wrest power from the NDC.
End Story.
