A proof to why Kwame Nkrumah has no PhD certificate

Educational History of Kwame Nkrumah

Kwame Nkrumah, after his elementary school, took to pupil teaching in Half Asini for about a year.

He attended Prince of Wales College in Achimota. Dr. Aggrey, according to him, was proud of him as a black student of the Achimota School.

He attended Lincoln University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology in 1939.

He gained admission to the Lincoln Theological Seminary and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1942.

While entering the Lincoln Theological Seminary, he arranged to continue his studies in philosophy and education at the University of Pennsylvania.

He received his Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He later, in February 1943, received a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied under one Professor Edgar Singer, and began to prepare for the Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) examinations. This he completed in two years, but all that was left was his thesis/dissertation to have him awarded his Doctorate Degree in Philosophy (PhD) certificate.

Kwame Nkrumah left New York in May 1945 for London after 10 years of struggle. His purpose for going to London was to read Law and to complete his thesis/dissertation for his Doctorate Degree in Philosophy (PhD).

He enrolled at Gray’s Inn and arranged to attend lectures at the London School of Economics.

Kwame abandoned his Law studies and his completion of his PhD thesis/dissertation as a result of his engagement in socio-political activities in London, which took away from him any time left for studies.

In 1948, Kwame Nkrumah received a letter from Ako Adjei, who was at the time back in the Gold Coast. He asked him if he would return and take the secretary position of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Ako Adjei stated in the letter that based on his knowledge of him, he had recommended to the Executive Committee to invite him to take up the position of General Secretary.

He finally left for Gold Coast and took up the General Secretary position of UGCC in December 1948.

Analyzing paragraphs 9 and 10, it can easily be concluded that Kwame Nkrumah could not finish his PhD thesis/dissertation, so he was not awarded a PhD certificate.

Thank you.

Hmm, may God be praised always.
