Akufo-Addo Saves Akans from Awonoor’s “Tribalism”

*By Akadu Ntiriwa Mensema, Ph. D.

Under P/NDC Akans lost it all
Under the guidance of Awonoor
Their hard-won businesses
Sarfo-Adu Pharmaceuticals
KOWUS Motors
Bonsu Brothers Stores
Siaw Tata Brewery
Appiah Menka Soap
Kwabena Darko Poultry Farm
Kufour Transport
Henry Ani “I Shall Return”
B.B. Bismarck Wholesales
Yaw Man Mechanical Lloyd

Ayekoo Nana Akufo-Addo
For speaking for all
The marginalized majority
For boldly speaking out
For not whispering it
But bolding trumpeting it
Truth is always bitter like bile
For reminding the NDC
The watershed of tribalism
That gushes out clueless Mills
The last Akan NDC ticket
The last Akan figurehead
The ostensible LEADER
Demonized yet being used
Entombed by Keta School Boys

JJ pontificated in Tamale
Amidst swirling dust-in-the-eye
JJ preached in the Volta
Amidst swirling herd-mentality
That Akans are imperialists
That Asantes are out to get all
JJ preached in Cape Coast
Adze pa wo Fante a oye
Yet Adze pa went to the Volta
JJ mocked Fantes as unclean
Yet made Mills the bread-basket
Exploited by Keta School Boys
Clueless Keta School Boys
Shoaling Mills astray in the sea
JJ said Kufour is an Asante
Asantes don’t go to sea
Kufour couldn’t help Fantes

Yes, Akans have been docile
JJ and Awonoor’s ideology
Has borne a pernicious fruit
The “Ghana Revolution”
Has marginalized Akans
Akan Judges slaughtered
By Ewe paid-executioners
Baptized by JJ’s crocodile tears
Happy tears on TV in 1982
But Amartey Kwei said it all
JJ knew the job was long done
JJ had thumbed the air in delight
JJ the hypocrite appeared on TV
Wept and blamed imperialists forces
When the keys for the murder
Had been plucked from JJ’s table
The keys on JJ’s rich dining table
The epitome of P/NDC violence

Let all speak truth to power
Akufo-Addo has nursed it
That seeds will flourish
The petals will unfurl
Like the Akan sun’s umbrella
Protect the Akan heritage
From Asante to Fante
From Akuapem to Bono
From Denkyira to Akwamu
The canopy will shade all
It shade all
From Dagomba to Ga
From Krobo to Ewe
That is Ghana’s tree
A tree of non-tribalism
A tree that shades all
A tree at our center
A tree that looks to the sun
In the West & in the East
In the South & in the North
A tree of democracy
That shields and shades all

Mills is the problem
Clueless Mills
The Fante Konongo Kaya
Where are they all
The Denkyiras, Wassas
Gas, Bonos, Akwamus
Agonas, Akuapems, Krobos
Asantes, Nzemas, Fantes
Gomoas, Adas
Akyems, Dwabens
Where are all the non-Ewes
Where are all the non-Northerners
In Mills’ administration

Ayekoo Nana Akufo-Addo
For speaking truth to NDC power
NDC, the withering leaf in wind
Mills is the last Akan NDC ticket
The last Akan figurehead
The ostensible leader
Entombed by Keta School Boys
