Central Regional Minister, Ama Benyiwa-Doe:- Shut Up It's For Social Development
The C/R Minister, Ama Benyiwa-Doe supports DCE to encroach and sell the land belonging to a family.
DCE Accused Of Theft For Selling Land.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East, Kingsley Ehun Armah has been accused of stealing 250 acres of land belonging to the Abor Ewusie Twida family, royal family of Gomoa Fete in the Gomoa District of the Central region.
The DCE, according to the family members, has been selling the land haphazardly with the explanation that he intends to undertake more developmental projects in the area though he is not a member of the family, the rightful owners of the land.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at Budumburam, the spokesperson for the family, who doubles as family head, Kwame Okyere called on President John Evans Atta Mills to investigate the matter and deal drastically with the DCE. He further cautioned ?If somebody or who ever is interested in somebody's land, the person has to seek the consent of the owners so he as the heah of the family never instructed Ehun Armah to sell the land without negotiating with his family.
The family, who were unhappy with the conduct of Mr. Ehun Armah, earlier reported the matter to the Central Regional Minister, Comfort Ama Benyiwa Doe who told them that the DCE was selling the land to construct a Senior High School (SHS) for the town, hence the need to keep their mouth shut.
Mr. Okyere further expressed concern about the way in which Hon. Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional, The Police Commander, DCOP Stephen Andoh Kwofie and the DCE have been fuelling chieftaincy disputes in the area. He could hardly understand why the three could even disobey the directive of the Paramount Chief of Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrefo Ahunako Ankobea and went ahead to provide over 800 police officers during the recent Gomoa Fete Akwambo Festival, celebrated by the chiefs and people of the area.
This was all because Obrefo Ahunako Ankobea, sensed danger and therefore ordered the two factions to step aside and allow the traditional council to organise the festival peacefully. He added that DCOP Andoh Kwofie, who earlier told Obrefo Ankobea on phone that they would celebrate the festival whether he likes it or not, unfortunately dispatched a number of police officers to Fete for the celebration of the festival about two weeks ago. "How can a number of 800 police officers be assigned to Fete Akwambo festival, how many police officers were dispatched to the Oguaa Fetu Afehye, which was graced by President Atta Mills and what interest have these three people got in the area,? the family head Okyere quizzed.
From Mr. Okyere's point of view this year's Gomoa Fete Akwambo festival was described as police festival since only police officers were spotted all over with tear gas and other offensive weapons to scare residents.
He appealed to the President to conduct investigation into the missing 3.5 billion cedis in the Assembly's account, a situation which compelled members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stage a demonstration against the DCE some months ago.
*** Is it not very cheating, abuse of power, office and a humbug that the District had such a gigantic amount of money and still dare to encroach and sell the land belonging to other people?
