The Nasara Youth Coalition (NYC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Zabzugu Tatale Constituency of the Northern Region is very happy about the moves by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to push in for constitutional reforms which will make it possible for the people at the grassroots to have a say as to who serves in the party’s leadership positions. We are particularly glad that it is the NPP-pacesetters of Ghana’s democracy and the protectors of the rule of law; that is introducing this into the internal political reconstruction of the country. We also hope that other political parties will take this good example.
The foot soldiers of the New Patriotic Party have been ignored by the leadership in terms of decision making for a long time which may have been one of the reasons for the party’s inability to retain power in the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. We wish to urge all party faithfuls and friends of the Danquah- Busia tradition not to relent in their efforts to make this move fruitful, we must demonstrate to all that as much as we cherish and champion the ideals of true democracy in the country, we shall always live to strengthen our internal democratic structures.
The Nasara Youth Coalition (NYC) will however not hesitate to kick against any move that is aimed at limiting the number of the party’s presidential aspirants to two; we believe this will only succeed in tainting the Danquah- Busia tradition’s hard won democratic credentials.
The New Patriotic Party(NPP) is a great family that has established itself as the beacon of true democracy in Ghana and must not allow its attention to be diverted by the destructive criticisms and persecutions meted out to it by the ruling NDC. We must remain united as always and we should know that this is not the time to debate the issue of who leads the party in 2012; this is but the appropriate time for us to prepare the grounds and put the right mechanisms in placed for whoever will lead the NPP in 2012 to clinch a landslide victory The NDC has failed the good people of Ghana since the changed they promised Ghanaians has eluded everyone. We call on all the members of our great family to remain resolute, focused and united for our victory is just at hand.
