Waking up to the unpleasant and unpalatable news of renewed fighting and exchange of gunshots in the Bawku enclave makes my heart heavy and my eyes teary.

No matter how hard I try, I am unable to fathom how we have fallen short of resolving this crisis, which continues to claim precious lives and valuable property.

The sight of women demonstrating on the streets and calling for stakeholders to bring the situation under control explains the unquantifiable impact of this conflict on the lives of the people and their future.

I can not help but join the voices of the affected families for the government and its security apparatus to sit up and exercise their responsibility to avert the needless loss of lives in Bawku and its environs.

Without mincing words, I implore the factions engaged in this protracted dispute to avail themselves to a peaceful process in order to address their needs.

In this vein, the National Peace Council, National House of Chiefs, and the Council of State must fashion out an acceptable roadmap towards resolving the conflict in Bawku.

The consequences of the violence in Bawku are known to everyone and, therefore, should be of concern to all.

While I sympathize with all the bereaved families in Bawku and those who have lost property, I call for a cessation of all attacks in the supreme interest of peace and unity.

Signed
