CPP appalled with the destruction of our lands and water bodies

Illegal miners destroying water bodies in search of gold Illegal miners destroying water bodies in search of gold

The Convention Peoples Party celebrates the 115 birthday of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in a sorrowful mood.

This mood has been propelled by the destruction of our lands and river bodies by illegal miners in 14 out of the 16 regions.

Adding salt to injury is the fact that, most of the illegal miners are foreigners.

These illegal foreign miners are being aided by our own citizens to perpetuate this heinous crime against current and future generations.

The Convention Peoples Party is calling on the government to with immediate effect place a ban on all small and medium-scale miners and calls for a bi-partisan discussion to find a permanent solution to this life-threatening problem.

Today the river Subile which quenched the thirst of the founder of modern Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has been polluted with impunity by illegal miners.

The fight against Galamsey must be won at all costs.

We owe it to ourselves and our future generations.
