The Ghanaian boxing industry is poised for a major transformation with the arrival of Game TV, a new television station dedicated solely to sports, with a particular focus on boxing.

Leveraging its resources, the station aims to revamp the industry, bringing fresh enthusiasm and opportunities for local fighters.

In a significant move, Game TV has partnered with Ayitey Powers Promotion to invigorate the industry. This collaboration is designed to train local boxers for world titles, creating a pathway for them to achieve international success.

The maiden edition of Ayitey Powers' boxing promotion, themed "Power of the Fists," took place on June 29-30, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, showcasing the prowess of Ghanaian boxers and setting the stage for their ascent to the global stage.

Goodfelow Dei Offei, General Manager of Game TV, has expressed the station's commitment to revitalizing boxing in Ghana.

"Our view as a TV brand is to create a niche for sports and gaming. We decided to support some selected sports, and boxing was one of them," Offei said in an interview.

"We thought that boxing also needs a facelift, so we took a decision to partner with Ayitey to start this journey,” he added.

The initiative marks the beginning of a regular series of bouts designed to keep boxers active and in peak condition. The first event was a resounding success, with the arena filled to capacity and fans struggling to find seats.

With the support of Game TV and Ayitey Powers Promotion, Ghanaian boxing is set to reach new heights, offering local fighters the chance to shine on the world stage and inspiring a new generation of athletes.
