As 2016 approaches, president and parliamentary candidates will pronounce to the media, “I am not corrupt”. And they will miss the point.
Recently, president Buhuari of Nigeria did something about asset declaration that got Ghanaians talking. In Nigeria, the law requires politicians to declare their assets to the code of conduct Bureau (CCB) the assets do not have to be declared in public but president Buhuari clearly thinks that shining a light on his assets will help in the anti-corruption fight. I agree with him. Transparency and personal commitment on the part of our leaders is better than a shadowy, “I am not corrupt” statement. Who will admit that he/she is not corrupt?
We all claim to hate corruption. But how far do we want to go to solve this rot that is making our people poor? How do we take politics out of this so we make the fight against corruption a national, all –inclusive one?
We Ghanaians must shine a bright light on corruption one by one, where ever we find ourselves. A personal commitment is needed from all of us.
Kudos to the investigative icon Anas Aremeyaw Anas for his immense contribution to this country (Ghana) I pray seeking for God’s blessings and favour for him in each and every single step that he takes. May his fame continue to grow like a bush fire in the harmattan, may his name rest on solid personal achievements.
Folks I must confess that the resent expose’ by the Ace journalist reminds me of the final verdict of the 2012 election petition on 29th August, 2013. From where I sat in the Supreme Court, I realized that, the verdict was cooked in the judicial kitchen of justice Atuguba, garnished in the executive kitchen of the one whose legitimacy was being questioned, set by some royal gurus in the Ashanti kingdom and eventually eaten by all NDC activists. It takes a lot of “radical true state men” and a high level of “judicial justices and judges” to solve our corruption canker.
Folks, I am fully aware of the dangers to which this article may expose me in case I am misunderstood or deliberately misreported or mischievously quoted out of context. Without fear or favour I say that, the current president John Dramani Mahama and his vice Amisah Arthur knew the outcome of the election petition, this explains why both of them wore white attire and were gloating in their own ignorance on that faithful day.
Anyway, the dignity of humanity is no longer measured by JUSTICE but rather ones COMFORT AND WEALTH. No wonder some of the 34 incarcerated judges exchanged JUSTICE for sex, goats, tubers of yam and the likes.
Comrades, together in one accord, let congratulate the Army General of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhuari for declaring his assets. It has never happened in the history of Ghana before. It is a step in it right direction. i see some instincts of sense in it, and once I see the logic, I see the rational, once I see the rational, I see the wisdom.
God bless all my readers, God bless mother Ghana.
