Democracy and peaceful political milieu

Ghana’s democracy and peaceful political milieu has become the envy of many African countries including the west. That notwithstanding, the main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party in my candid opinion is the greatest hindrance to our democratic gains. Their penchant obsession for war and destabilization of this country has reached breaking point
Politics, in its true sense is supposed to serve as a tool for societal advancement; a set-up that exist to attack societal evils such as armed robbery, poverty, disease, unemployment, illiteracy, war and backwardness. Rather paradoxically, the NPP led by Nana Akuffo-Addon in their chronic and incessant struggle to win power at all cost have demonstrated that, violence, character assassination, blatant falsehood and vile propaganda constitute their modus operandi in as far as the 2012 general elections is concerned. Nana Addo’s continual silence on Kennedy’s genocidal and ethnically divisive remarks is very eloquent and a lucidly unambiguous endorsement of the NPP’s diabolical agenda despite his latest fathom call for peace and tranquility in this country before and after the 2012 elections. We don’t have to even mention his infamous “all die be die” and “yen Akan fuo” comments.
The NPP is a party that has a historical bomb throwing record, and I want to implore all our security agencies to put in place stringent and draconian measures and modalities to safeguard the security of this country. Nana and his party have clearly borrowed a page from the master of propaganda Adolf Hitler. Joseph Goebbels’s notion that ‘A lie can become the gospel truth by constantly and consistently insisting on it’. It is therefore not surprising when the NPP concocted their so call fathom free SHS education policy, a policy which they cannot substantiate effectively with facts and figures.
For me and many other discerning Ghanaians, the posturing of the Nana Addo led NPP who claim to be legal luminaries and champions of the rule of law vis-à-vis the creation of the new 45 constituencies lowers them in the estimation right-thinking members of the societal and thus is only putting matters rather mildly and diplomatically.
Fortunately for Ghana and Ghanaians, God in his infinite wisdom introduced his Excellency President John Dramani Mahama into the political landscape of this great nation to retire Nana AKuffo Addo’s long standing fruitless political agenda and to continue to pursue the legacy of the late president John Evans Atta Mills.
Thus quite frankly, the nomination and subsequently overwhelming endorsement of the three times Bole-Bamboi MP, former deputy minister of communication under the erstwhile Rawlings administration, member of the Pan-African Parliament based in South Africa, former vice president and now president of the republic of Ghana has paralyzed the NPP politically. A situation that has compelled some concerned members of the NPP to start calling for agenda 2016.
In conclusion, as the clock ticks towards election 2012, Ghanaians must be looking out for a tried and tested pragmatic politician, who is God-fearing, humble, morally upright and above all one who can maintain peace and democratic gains we have chalked so far as a nation. No wonder Ghana’s first president described the Danquah-Busia-Dambo fraternity as ‘ a group of people with narrow intellectual horizon’.
