Dr. Agyemang's piss

Can drinking ones own urine affect the brain cells: A case study of Dr. Ofei Agyemang

Yesterday, the editorial team of the ‘Daily Post’ listened with disgust to an interview Dr. Ofei Agyemang granted Citi FM, an Accra based private radio station.

Dr Ofei Agyemang was the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso Central constituency in the 2008 elections. He was defeated by the incumbent MP, Sheikh I.C Quaye.

In the interview with Citi FM, Dr. Agyemang claimed that President Mills can’t retain power for the NDC in the 2012 elections because he has not been impressive enough.

The reason he assigned for the so-called unimpressive performance of the government would make any sane person want to puke. According to him, the government has not clicked because people like him and Mr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah have not been included in the government!

Under normal circumstances, we would have ignored this story because if there is one person who does not deserve even the position of a KVIP keeper in any NDC government, it is Dr. Ofei Agyemang.

NDC supporters and members especially those in the Ayawaso Central constituency cannot forget the way Dr. Agyemang gave victory away to the NPP and Sheikh I.C Quaye on a silver platter.

Though he won the seat, Dr. Ofei Agyemang looked on sheepishly as I.C. Quaye protested and had the votes recounted more than the required number of times until he, (I.C Quaye )was declared winner.

Through his lackadaisical attitude, Dr. Ofei Agyemang lost the seat and made nonsense of all the sacrifices that NDC supporters and members in the constituency made towards victory.

If other aspiring NDC MPs then had been as docile and lackadaisical like Dr. Agyemang, the party would still have been wallowing in opposition today.

So, if he cannot be trusted to be successful in a constituency, why must he be trusted with a bigger position?

Who is Dr. Agyemang or Spio Garbrah anyway for it to be that the absence of the two of them should lead to the failure of any government to perform? Is any one of them God? Both of them seem to be singing the same tune—that they are super humans who can perform magic for the NDC if appointed to a position of trust in the current government. This self centered, arrogant and pompous approach to issues is enough indication that neither Dr. Ofei Agyeman nor Dr. Spio Garbrah should be trusted with public office.

We of the ‘Daily Post’ would continue to agitate for the removal from office of those NPP apparatchiks who are sabotaging the Mills government. We fully agree with Former President Rawlings that among the government’s priority should be the quick and successful prosecution of the killers of the Ya Na Andani Yakubu as well as those who stole from state coffers, especially those who stole Ghana@50 money, squandered the US$750 million Eurobond, those who sold Ghana Airways and Vodafone for a song and many more. People who squander state money must be punished for it.

We shall continue to agitate for NDC members who have been denied jobs for eight years by the Kufuor government to be given jobs; we shall continue to agitate that the government give contracts to the party’s financiers and we will forever be ready to hit back at any Johnny Just Come who would not respect the Founder of the party.

But, it is a flat lie that the President Mills government has not been impressive. The government, in the light of the mess it came to find the economy as well as the global economic condition that prevailed at the time it took office, has done and achieved so much. It has done far more than the NPP government did and achieved in their first two years in office. If Dr. Agyemang hasn’t got eyes to see, hasn’t he got ears to hear?

Perhaps, drinking his own piss (the so-called urine therapy he has been prescribing for people) has affected his brain cells and hence his judgement. Perhaps, drinking one’s own piss is not good after all!

Neither Dr. Agyemang nor Ekow Spio-Garbrah should pretend that they are echoing the sentiments of J.J Rawlings, because they are not. All Ghanaians know what Rawlings stands for; Justice. We would strip naked any one who tries to hide in his shadow to fight for his or her own parochial interest.

If Dr Ofei Agyemang thinks President Mills should not be the one to lead the NDC into the 2012 elections, he is entitled to his views but if he wants to give reasons for his views, we expect him to give sensible ones and not some piss-infested reasons!
