Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Was Not A Brutal Dictator

– Part One

A revolution must carry along with it always the broad masses of the people. It cannot bend over backward to appease, and placade the old corrupt minority centers of power by believing that those centers have accepted the NEW ORDER. Its builders are the ORDINARY PEOPLE whom the Elite NPP members does not respect or recognize. These ordinary people are provided leadership by the dedicated skilled managers whose sense of nationalism is unquestionable. Dr. Nkrumah adopted it and succeeded Dr. Jerry John Rawlings adopted it and succeeded in becoming the longest ruling Head of State in Ghana. Dr. Busia discarded it and never won any election but was overthrown in 1972. Dr. Limann discarded it and was overthrown also on 31st December 1981. Professor Adu Boahen discarded it and lost the 1992 elections and in 1996, John Agyekum Kufour also discarded it and lost that election to President Rawlings. He only won the 2000 elections because of Rawlings long stay in power and the break away of the Reform Movement that year. Again, in the 2008 and 2012 general elections, Nana Akuffo Addo discarded the ordinary people while threatening Ghanaians with death through his infamous “ All die be die” mantra and lost both elections. You see, leaders of the United Party (UP) which the NPP represent today 2014, came from families which had ENJOYED a good standard of living EVEN in Colonial times. They hoped that when Colonial rule ended, they would step in to the positions occupied by the British and would enjoy even GREATER PRIVILEGES. It was a big shock to them to realize that Dr. Nkrumah and Progressive members of the CPP aimed to make BASIC CHANGES in Ghana to give every one a chance. The tactics of the dreaded National Liberation Movement (NLM) which later became the United Party was AIMED at thwarting independence and preventing the coming into fruition of the Pan Africans dream of its leaders. Dr. Busia launched the United Party in November 1957 in order to bring the scattered opposition forces together, and by 1957 Busia had gone to a self imposed exile leaving his party behind for Chief S.D Dombo to lead. Dr. Busia was a cowardly fugitive and a false democrat. Even though its ranks were depleted, the United Party regrouped somehow as it had massive defections from its ranks to join the great CPP along side a number of bye-election loses that strengthened the hands of the CPP. As a former Young Pioneer Cadre, I can take you down memory lane when discussing Dr. Nkrumah’s great achievements and Dr. Busia’s great destruction in Ghana between 1951 to Nkrumah’s violent over throw in 1966 and you will be surprised.
The Kulugugu Assassination Attempt
There had been several attempts by members of the United Party (UP) to kill Dr. Nkrumah and so whether the bombs that exploded and killed that innocent little girl and several Ghanaians on 2nd August 1962 was hidden in the flower pot or thrown in to the crowd there was an explosion which led to the arrest on suspicion of Tawiah Adamafio, Ako Adjei and H.H Coffie Crabbe who were detained for three weeks and put before court and were all free for lack of evidence.
In September 1962 the city of Accra was rocked with a series of explosions which signified that the opposition United Party was ready to turn to the use of massive terror in order to weaken the CPPs hold on power, a tactic they had perfected since the days of the dreaded NLM which the NPP represent today 2014. After Nkrumah’s violent overthrow on 24th February 1966 the following people from the United Party boldly came out and claimed responsibility for the countless bomb outrages through out the country. They were
(1) Mr. W.A.Wiafe, who said that he was the one who imported the bombs to Ghana to be used in killing Nkrumah but it backfired
(2) Mr. Joe Appiah said he was responsible for kidnapping the children of CPP leaders and be heading them.
(3) Mama Tula was hired by the UP to assassinate Nkrumahs but he failed, they then recruited Mr. K.A Gbedemah-Nkrumah’s organizer and right hand man who organized a big workers strike at Takoradi to prepare the grounds for a coup de’ tat in 1963.
(4) An early coup attempt was made by R.R Amponsah and Major Ahwaitey of the Ghana Armed Forces on 1958 and the Preventive Detention Act was passed by Parliament to prevent the nation from being mangled at birth. What was Nkrumah’s crime in 1958 that.
Warranted his violent removal from office? I mean what are some people talking about by re-writing Ghana’s history. I am writing article in response to one Sarpong Justice who wrote a feature Article through Ghana web.com. Wednesday 20 February 2014 and sent a copy to me through my e-mail. In his article entitled: Who Actually tried to kill Nkrumah at Kulungugu? The answer is simple. Those who tried to kill Nkrumah were members of the United Party (UP) which the NPP represent today 2014. Mr. Sarpong Justice also accused Nkrumah of imprisoning over 1,000 of his political opponents, this is a big lie because common criminals who were jailed by the law courts were all released by the Re-actionary NLC MILITARY JUNTA after Nkrumah’s violent over throw on 24th February 1966 and paraded as political prisoners that were detained by Dr. Nkrumah through the Preventive Determine Act. So you must stop throwing dust into the eyes of Ghana youth who form 80% of the voting population. We had an underground group called the” Zenith Seven’ led by some Ga Leaders whose aim was to kill Dr. Nkrumah. What the leaders of the Danquah/Busia a tradition representing the NPP want to say and have never been able to say so boldly is that they should always be in power and not any political class, group or tribe because they falsely believe that Ghana belong to them more than any other class, tribe or group.
When the late Professor Adu Boahen told Ghanaians that “ Yegye man” to wit – We will claim our country when referring to Rawlings grip on power in 1992, was he able to claim the country from the grip of Rawlings? Mr. Justice Sarpong must come again with better facts and particulars because his article is totally useless and full of fat lies. The man who actually organized the bomb throwing at Kulungugu was Adam Amandi of the United Party now NPP. I hope I have set the records straight for the benefit of Ghana youth. Truth be told, the West owes Africans not only money but our dignity and self respect.
Is anybody littering? I shall return when the need arise. I am done ‘Jaanbie Iwail” Aluta Continua!
