Dragging Efia Odo to my philosophy class

Efia Odo Efia Odo

Efia Odo in an answer to a question on Ameyaw Tv, which she rather interjected said: “I don't know what beef is… I don't know anybody. I just live my life and people just don't like it or I don't know. I don't beef okay? I just spill the truth and I just go; you take it how you want.”

In her accent, these words sound much better. I was wondering whether it's just her or people with that accent whose truths and actions are in that nature— Spill the truth and go. Moreover, one wonders about the nature of truth as though to question Efia’s definition of it. Is that how truth should be treated?

Spilling the truth speaks of what is coherent and corresponding to a referent. A referent must be present if we're to take anything to be true. But Efia would like the referent to leave (in her own words, go) as soon as we're about testing its coherence and correspondence to what's been said of it. When I say, for instance, the table facing me in my room is blue and you want to check if what I said, although colour is subjective, is true, you'd need that particular table I was referring to in order to tell what colour it has.

The referent makes it possible to have a basis for testing what's true in terms of its correspondence and coherence.

Efia Odo in saying that she just spill the truth and go leaves us not knowing how to verify her statements when she's the referent. She takes off immediately she makes a truth claim we wish to verify. It's as if there's something about her life she never wants us referring to. That's why when she's been referred to as someone who exposes her nipples, she almost always refers people to other referents, normally by being offensive, so she wouldn't be referred. (check how she replies comments on her social media posts). It helps her to literally take off. Is as if she can't stand her statements being verified against her life.
