Michael Dokosi must be arrested and prosecuted now
Our attention has been drawn to a press release on Ghanaweb written by the Daily Post, a newspaper purported to be owned by the President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama and edited by Michael Dokosi who insulted former President Kufuor by calling him a liar and a thief .We wish to inform Mr Dokosi and the tribalists who work at the daily post to stop their daily attacks on President Kufuor ,JH Mensah, PV Obeng, Spio Garbrah, Herbert Mensah, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu and other notable Akan statesmen and call on national security to arrest this man ad investigate his dubious activities.
We have noticed that the Daily post since 2010 has been attacking leading politicians and chiefs who are of Akan extraction and this is very frightening. On its May 20th 2011 edition, they called the chief of Dormaa Oseeadeyo Nana Agyeman Badu a criminal and a bastard and despite pleas from the Brong Ahafo Traditonal council, the late President Mills and the then Minister for information John Tia and the National Media Commission refused to sanction this editor. Nobody knows why Michael Dokosi is so angry and bitter against Ghanaians of Akan extraction but this is very dangerous and it is time the National Media Commission, and National Security put a stop to his divisive actions and tribalistic journalism that seeks to destroy our country.
We call on Mr Dokosi to take a look around him and his surroundings in Ghana ,he would see a nation in deep distress, confusion, abysmal leadership, unimaginable corruption and deep stinking decay. Ghana is on the road backwards and if this backward step is not halted, the country risks going back into the days when men and women lived in caves during the prehistoric era.
We are a country riddled with endless power cuts and power failure, failing our homes, failing our businesses, failing our schools, failing our workplaces
Businesses are really struggling in the economy. Everyone is playing safe and keeping their money under their beds instead of the banks. Our cedi is almost worthless and instead of our leaders taking risks and supporting opportunity there are interested in taking pastors to Israel and imams to dubai for shopping.
Thanks to the boldness of our judiciary, we are seeing our ministers of state used their positions to create ,loot and share public funds with questionable individuals and companies.
What has Mr Dokosi said about this?
Joesph Yammin ,a deputy minister travels all the way to Turkey to deliver a handwritten letter from the President at huge cost to the under 20 team. Could we not use his airfare to pay our teachers and pharmacists who are agitating for better pay? Do we need a minister to travel to Turkey to deliver a letter when we can use emails or a conference call for the President to speak to the players?
We have a civil service that is severely compromised, institutions of state such as the electoral commission, the minerals commission, ports and harbours, GYEEDA, NYEP, Ghana ,NPA and the Commission for human rights and administrative Justice are mired in deep rooted corruption. Institutional failure is a clear and present danger if not tackled and confronted will destroy the fabric of our society and our democracy.
Drug trafficking has assumed institutional proportions with those who we have mandated to protect us now working against us. Our executive secretary at Nacob, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, drives a vehicle purchased by drug barons. Thanks to wise decisions by our National Security Coordinator drug barons have taken firm control of our airports and ports as well as National security infrastructure.
In countries where the leadership is very serious and patriotic, the likes of Gbevlo lartey, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, Mohammed Alhassan would have been sacked but because of mediocrity, tribal and ethnic loyalties, we keep such incompetent men at post and pay the huge sums of monies into their bank accounts.>
Recently Kwesi Pratt, editor of the Insight said things are not moving and that there should be a shake up. A government that pays 51 million Ghana cedis to an individual who did not even perform a service or had a contract. Where was Michael Dokosi when all this was happening?
The Daily Post must stop the tribalism and harassment of politicians who bear Akan names. It is vile, spiteful ,childish and infantile and they must be ashamed of themselves.
