Ghana: Be ware of False Prophets

This is a rejoinder to the Politics news of Thursday, 27 September 2012 entitled ‘Akufo Addo Doomed Forever-Men of God’

I read this and I nearly fell off of my seat. Is this what Ghana has been reduced to? These tale bearers should be advised to keep quiet.

According to the Politics of Thursday, 27 September 2012, “Activists, functionaries and sympathizers of Ghana’s opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have to brace themselves for yet another painful and disastrous verdict in the upcoming December polls, if predictions by powerful men of God should come true.”

There is nothing wrong for a man of God to be partisan but to use the pulpit to not only play politics of favorites but also to intimídate voters and foster confusión among others should not be condoned. There is no biblical backing of these claims except to weaken the morale of Nana’s supporters. What audacity to say Nana is not among the spiritually chosen to rule Ghana! True Men of God preach the Gospel of Repentance and Salvation not doom.

The article said “According to the respected Sheik, since Nana Addo is not spiritually bestowed to lead this nation at this time, the NPP flag bearer must voluntary agree to step aside to allow those spiritually endowed, who carry the mantle of leadership spiritually from God, to lead the NPP to victory in 2012” (ibid). To make matters even more bizare and shaddy the article said, “The spiritualist is said to have predicted the defeat of NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo in the coming elections scheduled to be held on December 7th 2012 on the assumption or allegation that NPP flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, is not spiritually ordained to rule Ghana.

Did I hear “SPIRITUALLY ORDAINED”? That is deep!

I find it even bizare and rediculous when the article said “Had the NPP selected Alan Kyeremanten or millionaire Kennedy Agyapong, the CEO of Kencity Media, the party would have been able to defeat the NDC in the 2012 elections insisting, the two individuals would have had the spiritual backing of God to lead this nation,” remarked Sheikh Mallam Musah (ibid).

What barometer is Sheikh Mallam Musah,.and his band of spiritualists using to gage the spirituality of candidates? Is it the denomination they belong to or not belonged to?

Where are the true supporters of Nana? Where are they who know the LORD in Nana’s camp? Somebody ought to speak for their candidate;and not only that they need to stand in the gap to intercede for their candidate. They should not allow themselves to be intimidated by their adversary. God is not only for a few but the God of all. Anyone who trusts in Him will not be ashamed.

The spiritualist is noted to have added, “Unfortunately for the NPP, they selected Akufo Addo, who has no spiritual backing over Alan, if they had selected Alan Kyeremanten or even someone like Kennedy Agyepong, they would have defeated the NDC”. [Sheik stated.]

The camps of either Kyeremanten or Agyepong should be weeping rather than rejoicing over such statements. It may sound like praising them but it is not. If I were any of these two former and aspiring NPP candidates I would come out to declare my full support for Nana Addo’s candidacy rather than distancing myself [( as TRUE POLITICIANS do in the USA. Remember the war (of words) between Obama and Clinton supporters in 2008? Hillary Clinton in her wisdom cameo out and worked her heart out to convince her ‘stubborn’ and ‘simple-minded’ supporters to forget the past and join her to elect Obama. In the end it paid off for the Party and the defeated candidate.]

So do Alan Kyeremanten and or Kennedy Agyepong feel these statements promote and advance their candidacy for 2016? Stop kidding me. If they don’t stand up to stop the brewing mayhem they would be preparing their own paralysis and doom. This is purely Divide and Rule politics that may come back to haunt them in 2016.

Why should NPP allow their ranks to be divided now? This is the time for NPP to stop kidding with personality cults and come together to organize some effective campaign. The politics of Us and Them is purely infantile.

You know what, as I was Reading the statements from the so called men of God some scripture came to mind. When Sanballat heard that the Jews were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?” Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!” (Nehemiah 4).

Nehemiah and his team did NOT allow the noise and confusionist to thwart their goal and pollute their efforts. Rather they gathered courage by praying and working even harder. “Hear us, our God, for we are despised…”. So Nehemiah and his people rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.

On that note I beseech the Akuffo Addo team to not only block the noise but also to gather courage and keep their heads up. They should rather continue to find constructive ideas like they have intimated in their just unveiled Manifesto. What Ghana needs today is prudent and pragmatic thinkers,-- leaders who have a plan. Ghana needs more strategic planners than tale bearers and opportunists. That is why I am also calling Nana Addo to consider bringing Arthur Kennedy back to his camp because IDEAS MATTER.

Let the people of Ghana exercise their godly responsibility of voting their conscience not their fears. Long live Ghana.
